“Globalization and Sustainable Development in the Information Age”

We are delighted to be following up our very successful inaugural meeting in
2007 with the first of four events planned for 2008. We have an outstanding
program with thought leaders in two vital areas.

Keynote Speaker:
Sarbuland Khan, Executive Coordinator
UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development

Topic: The Global Alliance for ICT and Development, G@ID, is a partnership
and network supported by the UN. G@ID is actively pursuing the UN goals of a
better, more peaceful world. The goal of G@ID is to use information and
communication technology (ICT) as an instrument for overcoming poverty by
bringing the 4.5 billion people living in poverty into the global economy
and supporting the free flow of goods around the world. Information and
communication technology provides a mechanism for accomplishing this goal in
a sustainable way through the advantages it brings and the potential it
creates for all groups in society. All groups, whoever they are and wherever
they live should be able to use information and communication technologies.

In addition, we will have a very special speaker for the second half of the
program:

Steve Kloeblen, Vice President
IBM
World Development Initiative

Topic: The World Development Initiative, which is being led by Steve
Kloeblen is focused on finding business opportunities for IBM in meeting the
needs of people at the “base of the socioeconomic pyramid.” This initiative
supports the IBM corporate value: focusing on innovation that matters for
the world. Steven will describe how this initiative has been implemented in
IBM and discuss some vignettes of IBMers who have built networks reaching
out around the globe to countries such as India, China and Kenya.
